TRS - Manfeild make or break for Richard Verschoor

#22 Richard Verschoor (NED – Giles Motorsport Tatuus Toyota)
Toyota Racing Series Championship position: 2nd – 665 points – after 12 of 15 races

After a sensational debut Castrol Toyota Racing Series so far, Dutch sixteen-year-old Richard Verschoor has to play all his cards in the New Zealand Grand Prix weekend at Manfeild if he is to seize the Championship.

The Red Bull Junior has led the points table since the first weekend but had the advantage wrested away from him in three disappointing races in Taupo. "I really want the win this weekend. I expected this track to be the best in the series and I think it is," enthused Verschoor after two sessions of free practice on Thursday. "It's a great track, I like all the corners and it's a lot of fun to drive."

Ready for the final battles

"The car felt great today, we know that you can't predict the way things will be on Saturday so early in the weekend as the tracks change quite a lot but it's certainly been a good start," explained the Giles Motorsport driver.

Whatever the end result it has been a wonderful down-under trip for the teenager. "It has been a great series for me, I have learnt loads and that was the whole idea, that's what we came for. The level is really high, a lot of good drivers and the cars are pretty similar so its very competitive. I've learnt so much, it's been a great way to start the year, couldn't be better."

"The best round for me so far was the second, the results were the best and I got my first win, I liked the track, really quick and hard to get right but the lot of fun," said Verschoor referring to Teretonga. "The best round will be Manfeild though!"
